Investigate unshakable says iPhone 4 now Verizon Wireless' top-selling sound, helps iOS climb U.S. marketshare but ease trails Automaton
These aren't official Verizon stats, but research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech issued a report this morning saying that the iPhone 4 accounted for 30.1 percent of all Verizon Wireless handset sales in the last four weeks, the most of any single phone sold by that carrier.
That performance has helped to boost iOS's marketshare in the U.S., although Apple's platform still trails Google's Android by a significant margin.
While Android now has a commanding lead, it will be interesting to see what happens when/if AT&T's proposed purchase of T-Mobile is approved. At that point, two of the big three carriers covering the majority of American wireless customers will be selling the iPhone, whereas up until very recently the iPhone was only available on a single carrier serving far less than half the population.
